Description
We are seeking an Engineering Editor who will be responsible for providing overall technical review of content published in ACI’s magazine, Concrete International.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and edit manuscripts, industry features, and media content for technical quality, clarity, and consistency
- Review manuscripts for appropriateness for magazine readers
- Assist with management of revisions, version control, and reviews
- Write technical articles or assist authors with production of articles
- Follow editorial style guides, including house style and Chicago Manual of Style
- Coordinate peer reviewers for manuscripts as needed
- Oversee author edits for technical quality and accuracy
- Review products after final layout
- Answer technical questions and develop and maintain information on the ACI website
- Provide engineering support to other areas within ACI, as needed
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, materials engineering, materials science, or related field required
- Master’s Degree or PhD in civil engineering, structural engineering, materials engineering, materials science, or related field desirable
- Registered professional engineer (P.E.) designation desired
- 5 years practical experience in concrete design, construction, repair, materials, research, or testing
- Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, materials, and construction practices
- Excellent editing, proofreading, and technical writing skills
- Familiarity with codes and specifications related to concrete construction
- Exposure to industry associations or technical societies is desirable
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
- Proficiency in engineering mathematics and dimensional analysis
An individual in this position will be required to attend conventions, trade shows, off-site meetings, industry conferences, training events, or other business-related events which could involve multi-day or multi-week overnight travel, including international travel to locations where sanitary and dietary circumstances may differ from those typical in your local environment.
This position requires the individual to work from ACI headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI.

- Foreign language skills may be beneficial
