Position Title: ITS Broadband Inspector
About the Position
Were seeking an ITS/Broadband Inspectorfor large, heavy-civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, and bridges. The level of the position will be dependent upon the selected finalists background and expertise.
This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position. The location is typically 'rolling', meaning as the project progresses, the site location will change. The general area is Macon, GA, to Savannah, GA, along I-16 and then Savannah, GA, south along I-95. We will confirm specific details with the finalist prior to the start date.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are examples only and represent an Inspector Aid level finalist. These responsibilities will become increasingly more complex, and additional duties could be added if an Inspector I, II, or Sr. Inspector finalist is selected. Confirmation of duties and responsibilities will be provided to the selected finalist.
- Perform a range of routine and standardized work including, but not limited to, manual and/or electronic calculations, computations, and inspections of construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with the construction contract.
- Inspect truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course; borrow material and asphaltic concrete at project field sites.
- Perform a variety of simple materials sampling, inspection and/or testing.
- Provide inspection and materials verification for ITS/Broadband systems installation.
- Perform contract administrative duties, which may include field measurements of pay item quantities, project close-out, as well as other Department required documentation.
- May be required to use several different pieces of equipment such as Slump Cone, Air Meter, Measuring Wheel/Tape, Thermometer, etc. Incumbents will be fully trained in the use of equipment necessary to accomplish their work.
- May be required to work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, explosives and environmental contamination.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General knowledge of mathematical functions.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators.
- Ability to learn and interpret such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-engineering/Construction Management Degree; OR High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; OR an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
- Experience in the installation of ITS and/or underground fiber, cable installation or similar types of construction.
- Thorough or considerable knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures; ability to take notes and prepare or review reports; good communicative ability; and ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
Required Certifications
Please Note: For titles containing GDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests, certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. The specific certifications that are required are wholly dependent on the level of the role being filled. We will communicate which certifications are required for the selected finalist at the time a contingent offer of employment is extended. Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.
- GDOT WECS.
- GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
- GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
- Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
- Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
- Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 3 (Earthwork, Bridges, and Incidental Construction items).
Compensation Details
Expected Salary: $41k-$93k/year ($20-$45/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the level of position offered (Inspector Aid, Inspector I, Inspector II, or Senior Inspector) and the successful candidates level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
