Position Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and strategic KSL Promotions Producer / Writer / Editor to support KSL-TV News, KSL.com, KSL NewsRadio, KSL Sports Zone, KSL Sports, KSL Podcasts, Arrow 103.5 & FM100 across on-air and digital branding. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, writing, shooting and editing high-impact promotional content, ranging from daily news topicals to large-scale KSL branding campaigns that drives viewership and audience engagement across all KSL platforms.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

• This position is an on-site role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Creative Content Production: Conceptualize, write and produce compelling promotional spots, including daily news topicals, KSL image campaigns, KSL initiatives, promoted story promos and radio spots. Support social media efforts with reels and other content as needed.
• Strategic Writing: Craft sharp, accurate, and creative scripts & copy for 15-30 second broadcast spots and social media hooks that align with KSL brand guidelines.
• Post-Production & Editing: High-level non-linear editing of all promotional materials using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically Premiere Pro.
• Collaborative Planning: Partner with Marketing, Social Media, News Directors and Executive Producers to identify promoted story "hooks." Attend daily news meetings to identify best stories to promote in the daily topical promos for both on-air and social.
• Field Production: Direct talent and crews on set or in the field during image shoots; occasionally serve as photographer/videographer for custom promotional content.
• Project Management: Oversee the entire production lifecycle, including promo scheduling, voiceover supervision, and final audio mixing to meet strict daily deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

• Demo Reel: Demo reel is REQUIRED for all applicants.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a writer/producer/editor in a newsroom or creative services department.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and the ability to shoot your own footage. After Effects, and Photoshop knowledge is a plus!
• Editorial Judgment: Strong news judgment and the ability to find the most "tune in worthy" elements of a story.
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. Must work effectively in a team environment.
• Availability: Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including morning & nights, particularly breaking news events. This is a Monday - Friday position, but it will require some holidays and possible weekend shifts.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and work with minimum supervision.
• Strong self-motivation, well organized, and dependable.

Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.

• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
• Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
• Lift, move, and carry up to 40 pounds on occasion.

Compensation

$24.00 - $32.00. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
