Reports to: Vice President of Publishing/Executive Editor
FLSA Exempt Employee
Summary. The Managing Editor is tasked with managing the editing of VOM media after executive review. This position administers VOM's in-house style sheet, which contains VOM messaging standards, and ensures edits are implemented appropriately and consistently across all platforms of VOM media.

Core Duties
Edit: Conduct a thorough, line-by-line analysis of text for messaging, tone, overall structure, logical flow, readability and reasonable fact-checking. The edit includes basic copy editing for house style, grammar, usage, spelling, syntax and punctuation.
Adhere to Style Guides: Enforce established style guides (AP Stylebook for publications and Chicago Manual of Style for books) and maintain VOM's in-house style sheet.
Ensure Consistency: Maintain consistency in style, tone and voice across all platforms of VOM media.
Collaborate: Work with Editorial, Creative and Publishing Project Management staff and any other VOM message creators and stakeholders, including contract writers and editors, as needed during the editing process of media production.
Manage People: Provide direction and mentoring to the In-House Editor and any approved contractors in the management of editing projects and tasks.
Requirements
Skills and Experience
[Required] Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or related subject.
[Required] Ten years of professional editing experience.
[Required] Proven ability to lead and develop people, provide feedback.
[Required] Proficient in Associated Press and Chicago Manual of Style.
[Required] Experience in production of print publications.
Strong organizational capability and attention to detail.
Exceptional time management and ability to manage multiple tasks.
