Position Overview
Cygnus Behavioral Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our remote team. This full-time position allows you to provide essential therapeutic support to individuals seeking to improve their relationship with alcohol. As a counselor, you will utilize evidence-based practices to develop individualized treatment plans that align with our clients' goals, whether that means achieving moderation or abstinence.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial assessments and develop comprehensive, personalized treatment plans for clients struggling with alcohol use issues.
Utilize therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to facilitate client engagement and recovery.
Facilitate online support groups and encourage the integration of community recovery support resources, such as AA and Smart Recovery, into the treatment process.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients to monitor progress and adjust treatment goals as necessary.
Participate in individual and group supervision sessions to enhance clinical skills and share insights with peers.
Optionally collaborate with our Content Manager to produce “Expert Insights” articles to share knowledge and contribute to community education.
Engage in monthly peer support meetings to discuss challenges and successes in clinical practice.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be working with adults seeking to change their alcohol consumption habits. Clients may have varying degrees of challenges, from seeking moderation to contemplating strict abstinence. You will deliver trauma-informed care, ensuring that each individual feels safe, respected, and empowered throughout their recovery journey. Your strong clinical engagement skills will foster relationships built on empathy and trust, which are pivotal in driving positive client outcomes.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid state license as an LMHC, LMFT, or LICSW.
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
Experience and/or certification in therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, and harm reduction strategies.
Familiarity with the harm-reduction model to accommodate clients' preferences for moderation versus abstinence.
Excellent communication skills, with a focus on empathy and clinical engagement to build rapport with clients.
Ability to guide clients in utilizing community recovery support options alongside individual therapy.
Preferred Experience
A background in providing behavioral health support or treatment related to substance use disorders is advantageous.
Experience facilitating group therapy or community support sessions is preferred but not required.
Demonstrated ability to work within a telehealth environment and use digital communication tools efficiently.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a retirement plan, and generous paid time off (PTO).
